Coherent_MatrixDPSSLaser.gifProviding cost-effective volume OEM integration, the Matrix infrared 1.06-μm Q-switched lasers from Coherent Inc. deliver 10 W of average power with M2 beam quality of 1.1. Models offer repetition rates and rms noise levels geared toward specific applications. The 10-kHz version is designed for engraving plastics, metals and other materials, the 30-kHz, for trimming active and passive circuit components in microelectronics, and the 350-kHz, for high-throughput applications such as memory repair and disk texturing. Available with air or closed-loop water cooling, the compact devices have low power requirements and lifetimes in the 20,000-h range, based on the company’s aluminum-free active area diode material.
