LASER DIODE DRIVERS

ILX Lightwave Corp. has announced two drivers for testing high-power laser diodes in CW or quasi-CW modes. The 80-A LDX-3680 and the 120-A LDX-3690 offer high set-point accuracy, low output noise, four-wire voltage measurement and an IEEE-488-GPIB interface. A power display mode allows the laser diode power to be set based on slope efficiency and threshold current parameters. An independent photodiode measurement circuit supports external output power monitoring. Protection features include adjustable voltage and current limits, output shorting relays, and low operating and power line transients. The drivers accept a thermistor input for temperature monitoring. Dual independent interlocks are provided.
