QuantEM:512SC, an electron-multiplying (EM) CCD camera from Photometrics, offers EM gain with true quantitative stability across 16 bits. Life sciences researchers can conduct accurate ratiometric analysis in time-course experiments, acquire reproducible data during long-term studies and capture streaming data for multidimensional time-lapse investigations, all with single-molecule sensitivity. The camera uses patent-pending advanced clocking enhancement technology and an intelligent field-programmable-gate-array design to achieve precise voltage-clock timing resolution, good bias stability, accurate 16-bit measurement, self-calibrating gain linearization to 1000× with a linear gain slider, and a low generation rate of dark background events. A patent-pending photometrics active regulation feedback system continually controls EM gain and maintains the factory-set parameters. Peak quantum efficiency is >90%.
