Coherent.gifCoherent Inc. has extended the power range of its Sapphire series all-solid-state 488-nm lasers. The Sapphire 488 HP includes a 500-mW option in the same standard package configuration that formerly offered 100 or 200 mW of output. The air-cooled laser head measures 215 × 140 × 51 mm. The laser is primarily targeted at biomedical applications, such as flow cytometry and fluorescence imaging. The 75-mW Sapphire 488 LP, offered with the same form factor as the 10- to 50-mW lasers, measures 125 × 70 × 34 mm. It is designed for biomedical, semiconductor inspection and instrumentation applications.
