Nutfield-Technology.gifA three-axis scan head has been announced by Nutfield Technology Inc. The 3XB-45mm offers laser system designers smaller spot sizes, larger scan field sizes and the ability to mark contoured surfaces. The Z-axis corrects for focus in real time within the scan field, allowing the use of larger-aperture input beams for scanning much larger field sizes and smaller spot sizes. The 45-mm aperture SiC-substrate high-speed mirrors allow the device to generate spots as small as 260 μm in diameter. An optional motorized macro Z-axis adjustment uses an RS-485 interface that controls a stepper motor to change field and spot size combinations.
