Vialux GmbH is offering two versions of the z-Snapper 3-D camera for machine vision and life sciences applications. The “vario” model comprises a projector and a camera that can be mounted independently, and the “compact” is supplied as a single plug-and-play unit. It features standard, midi and mini fields of view and an LED-based digital micromirror device projector. Maximum power for the compact is 20 W at 12 V, and for the vario, 20 W at 20 V. Both operate on a PC or laptop and run on Windows 2000/XP with 1 GB of RAM. Recording time for both is from 40 to 200 ms. The ALP controller interfaces via USB 2.0, and the digital cameras plug into a FireWire port. Two software packages are included.
