The ClearSpectrum-TDC delivers dynamic control over chromatic dispersion in the optical domain to help manage time-dependent dispersion effects in high-speed communications networks. This key component enables DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) systems to operate at 40 Gb/s and is based on TeraXion’s well-established multichannel FBG technology. The ClearSpectrum-TDC can be used to tune dispersion on a per-channel basis or over multiple optical channels when used in-line for 10-Gb/s systems. The component possesses a large dispersion tuning range that can be doubled with TeraXion’s dual-grating TuneX configuration. The ClearSpectrum-TDC is offered in a butterfly package along with an optional electronic control subsystem to ease integration to a transmission line card.
