A wide-angle lens designed for security and automotive applications has been developed by Sunex Inc. The compact DSL228 is optimized for 1/4-in.-format CMOS sensors with multiple megapixel resolution. The lens has a 75° horizontal and a 120° diagonal field of view. Its aperture of f/2.0 is designed to perform in low-light conditions. The lens, constructed of aluminum with glass elements, can withstand temperature extremes. An IR cutoff coating is integrated into the lens, and lenses without the coating also are available.
