Osram.jpgOsram Opto Semiconductors GmbH has added water-cooled vertical laser stacks and laser bars in standard packages to its range of high-power lasers. Operating in continuous- or quasi-continuous-wave modes, the water-cooled stacks consist of up to 20 bars. The devices reach outputs in the kilowatt range for more than 10,000 hours at wavelengths of 808, 915, 940 or 975 nm. Users may employ the stacks in high-output systems for pumping solid-state lasers, in direct material processing and in medical engineering. When water cooling is not possible, passive-cooled laser diodes on solid copper heat sinks provide optical outputs of 50 W in continuous wave mode.
