LightTools is a complete optical design and analysis software product featuring virtual prototyping, simulation, optimization and photorealistic renderings (including source-lit renderings) of precision illumination applications. The software has incorporated solid modeling technology to accommodate the inherent accuracy required to simulate ray paths of light as they traverse among and within optical elements and mechanical structures.

LightTools' Monte Carlo ray tracing facilitates accurate spectral modeling of the illuminance, luminance, intensity distributions and CIE colorimetric data anywhere in the optomechanical model. Volume-emitting or surface-emitting light sources of various pre-defined shapes can be easily created and even combined with mechanical and optical parts to form models of lamps, light bulbs, LEDs and other illumination devices.

LightTools facilitates innovative designs for a wide variety of solid-state lighting applications, including LEDs used in cell phones, cameras, LCD displays, projectors, automotive instrumentation and lighting, industrial lighting, and retail lighting. The software can model LED dies, LED arrays and LED packaging.
