OmniVision.jpgA single-chip color high-dynamic-range CMOS imaging sensor is available from OmniVision Technologies Inc. for high-volume applications. The CameraChip OV10620 switches to high-dynamic-range mode to handle extreme variations of brightness and darkness within one scene. It features a 6 × 6-μm pixel size and spectral light sensitivity of 1000 nm. The digital sensor comes in a 1/3-in. VGA (768 × 492) and a 1/4-in. VGA (640 × 480) image array, which operates at 30 fps at full resolution and at 60 fps at quarter VGA (320 × 240) resolution. It offers luminance-bandwidth-chrominance or RGB raw output and performs at a dynamic range of up to 110 dB in color or black and white. It has an operating temperature range of –40 to 105 °C and comes in standard chip scale, quad flat pack and ceramic leaded/leadless chip carrier packages.
