Hamamatsu.jpgAn InGaAs avalanche photodiode with a 0.2-mm-diameter active area and high-speed response of 0.9 GHz has been introduced by Hamamatsu Corp. Applications for the G8931-20 include distance measurement, spatial light transmission and detection of low-light levels. Its spectral response range is 0.9 to 1.7 μm, with peak photosensitivity of 0.9 A/W at 1.55 μm. The device also features low breakdown voltage between 40 and 60 V, typical capacitance of ∼1.5 pF and typical dark current of 150 nA.
