MAINZ, Germany, July 11, 2007 -- Semiconductor laser maker Dilas Diodenlaser GmbH has unveiled its new Compact series, an air-cooled, fiber coupled, high-power diode laser system with a very small footprint.
The new system features Dilas' conduction cooled, single- and multibar-based, 400-µm fiber-coupled diode laser modules and is operated via its integrated power supply and computerized control unit. The integrated temperature-stabilized TEC air-cooling, combined with the fiber coupling, makes this product line an easy-to-use solution for OEM integrators as well as scientific applications, the company said.
Power levels are 40 W, 60 W, 100 W, 200 W, 300 W and 400 W in 400-µm, NA 0.22 fibers, and 25 W, 50 W and 100 W in 200-µm, NA 0.22 fibers. Up to 100 W, the system uses SMA fibers and is based on air-cooling. For higher power levels, the Compact series utilizes high-power QBH fibers and industrial water-cooling.
The system is also available in all wavelengths Dilas offers; for materials processing applications it is offered in the standard 980-nm and 808-nm wavelengths.
The turnkey system consists of a compact 19-in. (4HU), rack-mountable chassis, metal-armored fiber and imaging optics with protection glass. The system can be combined with Dilas' processing heads, offering camera and pyrometer options and allowing the closed-loop operation of the system in predefined temperature ranges for quality relevant applications in medical device manufacturing and the automotive industry.
The system is also available with an optional fiber-input galvo scanner featuring a field of operation in which the laser spot can be freely addressed. Target applications for the combination of the Compact series and the galvo are found in selective soldering or quasi-simultaneous welding of plastics, according to the company.
