The PalmSense handheld fiber optic temperature sensor from Photon Control Inc. is battery-operated to allow movement between critical sensing points as well as data storage in its internal 20-Mb memory. A mini USB 2.0 digital output, which provides data transfer between the device and a computer, is used also to recharge the battery. All of the company’s temperature probes are compatible with the PalmSense converter, rendering the device suitable for a variety of environments. Featuring a color LCD, the sensor can achieve an absolute accuracy of up to 0.05 °C over a temperature range of at least 100 °C when paired with one of the company’s Fluotemp probes.
