Photonic Lattice Inc. has introduced a line of photonic crystal elements for generating beams with axisymmetric polarizations at 1064 nm. The PLR-1064 polarizers and the LMR-1064 laser mirrors, and the PLA-1064 polarizers and LMA-1064 laser mirrors, all with a clear aperture of 5 mm, produce radial and azimuthal polarizations, respectively, from naturally polarized light. The SWP-1064 segmented wave plate produces both types of polarization, depending upon the orientation of linearly polarized incident light. Applications include microscopy, laser cutting, and optical trapping and lithography. The company says that the elements exhibit a high optical damage threshold and good heat tolerance.
