Piezosystem jena GmbH has expanded its Mipos family of micro-objective focusing lenses with the addition of the nanoMipos400 CAP nanopositioner. Complementing the Mipos 500 piezoelectric objective lens positioning system, the instrument incorporates a capacitive measurement system and provides 450-μm travel with nanometer resolution. Its bidirectional nanoX gear design offers guidance accuracy without parasitic motion. Because of the integrated damping system and high proper resonance, external vibrations have minimal effect on the exact positioning of the system, even down to the nanometer range. The device, for upright and inverse microscopes, can be used for various threads via a thread-flex adapter.
