FisbaOptik.gifFisba Optik AG has announced its Beam Twister (FBT), a beam symmetrization device that generates an almost symmetrical beam and that can be implemented for fiber coupling of diode laser bars. The patented FBT includes a fast-axis collimator lens with a beam-rotating lens array for high efficiency and near-diffraction-limited collimation. The company developed micro-optics for the individual beam twisting of each emitter of the diode laser bar, resulting in an almost round beam profile. Power can be coupled from the laser facet to the fiber output with an efficiency of >80% and >70% in 400- and 200-μm-diameter fibers, respectively, with an NA of 0.22.
