With Higher Depth of Field
BARRINGTON, N.J., Oct. 23, 2007 -- Optical components maker Edmund Optics (EO) has introduced the VZM 100i, an addition to its Techspec VZM (video zoom microscope) series of parafocal zoom lens systems for video cameras.

VZM lenses are especially suitable for inspection systems that need to handle a wide variety of objects without changing working distances.

edmund-zoom.jpgThe VZM 100i features a compact 28-mm diameter removable mount with an optional zoom lock adapter and works with camera sensors as large as 2/3 in. It also offers a 0.25x primary magnification, a 4:1 zoom ratio and a horizontal field of view of 25.6 mm (using a 2/3-in. sensor). Its working distance is 175 mm, with up to 70 lp/mm (line pairs per millimeter) resolution, and it features a higher depth of field over other VZM systems.

As with other VZM lenses, the 100i features a rack-and-pinion focusing movement and parafocal design to eliminate the need to refocus when changing zoom levels. The i-series also offers front threading for filters and a locking iris.

The VZM 100i is available from stock at a price of $800 in single units.
