Molecular Devices Corp., a division of MDS Analytical Technologies, has released the MetaMorph ICS, a confocal microscope for live cell and functional imaging, in partnership with VisiTech International Ltd. Optimized for high-speed acquisition and analysis, the device incorporates the MetaMorph automation and image analysis software and the VT-Infinity3T confocal array scanner. Advantages of the system include real-time confocal imaging, low photobleaching for long-term live-cell experiments, selectable pinhole sizes for optimal imaging conditions, and synchronization among scanner, camera and other devices. It offers full control and integration of illumination intensity and wavelength selection, and there is no random striping or field-to-field intensity variation.
