Luxtera Inc. has unveiled Blazar, a 40-Gb optically active cable based on CMOS. It supports quad-data rate, and cables are sold in lengths from 1 to 300 m. It consumes 2.2 W per cable end, or 0.05 W/Gb. It connects to a system via a quad-small-form-factor pluggable MSA connector cage. The electrical interface is SFP+ compliant, enabling it to support data rates of 10.5 Gb per transport lane for a total throughput of 42 Gb.See full product
