The SC62X family of 3 × 3 × 6-mm programmable charge pumps released by Semtech Corp. provide backlight, flash and camera module power in mobile phones. The series includes a high-power charge pump based upon proprietary mAhXLife power conversion technology, five programmable current sinks for powering four 25-mA white LED backlights, and a high-current LED for camera flash. Maximum output of the camera flash current sink is 400 or 700 mA, depending upon the model, with 250-mA continuous spotlight capability. Most models provide two low-dropout, low-noise linear regulators for powering a CMOS camera, and all support 1×, 1.5× and 2× charge pump modes. They provide 83% average and 94% peak efficiency over the life of the lithium ion battery.
