Coherent Inc. said the latest addition to its Prisma series of all-solid-state infrared and green lasers offers the highest output power available to date. Specifically, the new Prisma 1064-20-V is a Q-switched, Nd:YVO4 (neodymium doped yttrium orthvanadate) laser that delivers 20 W at 1064 nm. With 25 percent higher output power than previously available, this laser enables faster throughput or reduced processing times, while still lowering the cost per watt.

CoherentPrisma.jpgThe Prisma 1064-20-V offers the same reliability and performance characteristics as other Prisma lasers, the company said. Specifically, the new model shows excellent transverse mode quality (M²<1.3) and high pulse-to-pulse stability (<2% rms from 40-100 kHz), while enabling complete control over pulse-energy and timing. The laser uses field-proven AAATM-material pump diodes and is factory-sealed for high reliability, even when operating in harsh, industrial environments.

Together, all these features make the Prisma 1064-20-V an ideal source for a variety of marking and materials processing applications, Coherent said. These include ID card marking and keypad marking, as well as solar cell or mold-form manufacturing.
