HUDSON, N.H., Feb. 19, 2008 -- Laser Components IG Inc. (LCIG), an authorized distributor, said Germany-based optical polarizer maker Codixx has extended its colorPol polarizer product line to cover the mid-infrared (MIR) range with its new colorPol MIR for applications such as matter analysis and thermography.

The colorPol MIR filter comes with a very large bandwidth and provides high extinction ratios of above 10,000: 1 (40 dB) within 2-4.5 µm (in wave numbers 5000 cm-1 to 2222 cm-1) and above 1000: 1 (30 dB) within 1.5-5 µm (in wave numbers 6666 cm-1 to 2000 cm-1).

CodixxMIR.jpgBased on the unique colorPol technology for doping of sodium silicate glass with prolate silver nanoparticles, all colorPol polarizers provide high temperature stability up to +400 °C, resistance against rough environmental influences, against the most chemicals, ultraviolet radiation and bleaching, the company said.

Dimensions ranging from 1 x 1 mm² up to 100 x 50 mm² and different shapes are available, LCIG said. In addition, the filter is offered in standard versions with diameters of 12.5 mm and 25 mm as well as 0.5 in. and 1 in., respectively.

LCIG said it will be showing the colorPol MIR at OFC/NFOEC 2008 Feb. 26-28 at the San Diego Convention Center, Booth 4019; and at the Defense & Security Symposium March 18-20 at the Orlando Convention Center, Booth 823.
