Zecotek.jpgZecotek has introduced single-photon-counting semiconductor-based micropixel avalanche photodiodes (MAPD) suitable for incorporation into PET or SPECT scanners, DNA sequencers, flow cytometers or confocal microscopes. The photodiodes are insensitive to magnetic fields. The MAPD 2 model exhibits 13% photon detection efficiency (PDE) at 460 nm and 20% at 640 nm with 520 pixels/mm2 on a 2.1-mm2 area, whereas the MAPD 3 exhibits 25% PDE at 460 nm and 15% at 640 nm with >15,000 pixels/mm2 on a 9 mm2 area.
