OEM Fibre Laser Delivers High Peak Power

Keopsys_KULT.jpgThe Kult series presented by Keopsys SA is an eye-safe fibre laser source delivering high peak power and high energy per pulse in a compact package. The output beam is diffraction-limited and provides an average output power up to 0.65 W.

The device is suitable for telemetry and rangefinding applications and can be operated in harsh environments for both terrestrial and airborne military and commercial applications. Examples include detection of obstacles such as buildings and cables, night vision, topography scanning, active imaging and target identification.

These applications benefit from high peak powers of up to 4 kW and energies per pulse up to 30 μJ. Both the pulse width and the repetition rate are adjustable, between 5 and 10 ns and from 10 to 300 kHz, respectively. The operating wavelength is from 1545 to 1546 nm, and a lower-power variant operates from 1550 to 1562 nm.

The unit is supplied in a robust enclosure and measures 90 × 20 mm, weighs <200 g and is intended for OEM users. It is diode-pumped, requires no water cooling and consumes <16 W. The optical interface is single-mode fibre with various connector options, and the control interface uses TTL signals or analog controls.
