The 56-CLC series universal laser controllers announced by CVI Melles Griot operate the company’s CRH series diode laser modules at 408, 442, 642 and 658 nm, and they operate diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers at wavelengths such as 488 and 561 nm. Their design uses drive electronics with a common software interface and 5-VDC power input, reducing system complexity and lowering cost.
The same model power supply can be used to operate multiple interchangeable laser diodes or DPSS laser heads. OEM controller board and CDRH enclosure versions are offered. Features of the RoHS-compliant devices include analog and digital modulation (diode lasers only), an operating temperature range from 0 to 55 °C, dual thermoelectric cooling controllers, an RS-232 interface and versatile mounting options.
The controllers operate in automatic current control or in automatic power control mode and are suitable for use in applications such as flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, metrology and general laboratory use. Maximum heat dissipation is <13 W.
