Q-Switched Oscillator Produces 1-ns Pulses

The AOT-YAG-10QE introduced by Advanced Optical Technology (AOT) Ltd. is a solid-state TEM00 electro-optical Q-switched oscillator that doubles pulse energy to >150 μJ at 2 kHz. Used with the company’s standard harmonic modules, it achieves conversion of >40% to 532 nm, >30% to 355 nm and >20% to 266 nm.

The laser’s maximum repetition rate is 10 kHz, its bandwidth is ≤1 nm, and its beam ellipticity is <10%. Maximum average power is 850 mW at 10 kHz, and power stability is 5% or better. The laser head measures 200 × 64 × 320 mm and includes space for optional drop-in 532-, 355- or 266-nm proprietary harmonic modules. The optical beam is nominally 30 mm off the base.

Nominal beam waist size is 0.2 mm, with nominal beam divergence of 7 mrad. Operating wavelength is 1064 nm, and polarization is >100:1 plane polarized. The control unit is either a 2U 19-in. rack type or a bench type that measures 257 × 147 × 263 mm. The laser head connects to the control unit via a 2-m-long cable. Power consumption is <50 W.
