3S-Photonics_1999CHP.jpgThe 1999 CHP series ultrahigh-power 980-nm terrestrial pump laser modules have been released by 3S Photonics SA. The proprietary laser chip is fully qualified in accordance with Telcordia GR-468 Core specifications.

Modules are available with kink-free operating power up to 660 mW at operating temperatures from –5 to 75 °C, and the laser chip delivers >900 mW at 1100 mA. The wavelength is locked via a fibre Bragg grating located in a single-mode polarization-maintaining fibre pigtail. The RoHS-compliant devices include a thermoelectric cooler, a precision thermistor and a back-facet monitoring photodiode, and they are housed in an epoxy-free, flux-free, low-profile 14-pin butterfly package.

The modules are suitable for use in applications including low-noise and next-generation dense-wavelength-division multiplexing erbium-doped fibre amplifiers, CATV and industrial markets.
