REGENSBURG, Germany, April 29, 2008 –- Osram Opto Semiconductors announced their unique backlighting for the new ultrawide, curved high performance display module from Ostendo Technologies Inc.

Measuring 42.4 in. diagonal and providing a 2880 x 900 pixel resolution (double WXGA+), Orsam said Ostendo’s CRVD display is the ultimate immersive desktop and is ideal for simulation, gaming, financial analysis, digital imaging, web-content creation, and various desktop computing applications.

CRVD frontal-resize.jpgThe CRVD wraps around the viewer while serving up 68.7 billion colors, >300 nits brightness, and a contrast ration of >10,000:1. Backlighting the rear projection DLP (digital light processing) screen are Osram’s Ostar-Projection high performance LED light sources. Consisting of six RGB (red, green, blue) LED chips, these modules generate exceptional brilliance and vibrant colors with pure surface emission and extreme brightness, thanks to Osram’s Thinfilm and ThinGaN chip architecture, said the company. Osram Opto Semiconductors will demonstrate their Ostar-Projection high performance LED light source at the 2008 SID (Society for Information Display) trade show in Los Angeles in May.
