3M_IDLF.jpg3M has introduced its Diamond Lapping Film 660XV abrasive for fiber optics polishing. Available in 1-, 3-, 6- and 9-μm grades and with or without pressure-sensitive adhesive backing, it is designed for use on slower-rpm polishing machines. Tightly graded diamond mineral is precision-coated onto a polyester film backing to provide consistent processing and high-quality finishes over the extended life of the product. The material is supplied in the converted form of sheets, disks and rolls with a maximum diameter and width of 305 mm. Nominal thickness is 3 mil, with actual values specified as 2.97 ±0.05. Typical ultimate tensile strength is 26,500 psi.
