JAI.jpgThe AD-080CL unveiled by JAI Inc. is a two-channel CCD camera that measures visible and near-IR light spectra simultaneously via a single lens. The device is designed for applications that require both surface and below-surface imaging, such as inspection of banknotes, passports and tickets, and of electronics, textiles, wood and metal.

True multispectral information can be gathered from each channel as a result of the separation of the visible and near-IR spectral bands by the prism’s dichroic coatings. The separation wavelength measures 760 nm. The 1/3-in. CCD imaging sensor has 1024 × 768 pixels measuring 4.65 × 4.65 μm. The camera features a programmable exposure time of 20 μs to 33 ms and has a gain control from 23 to 12 dB, with a typical dynamic range exceeding 54 dB. The imaging device can be configured for triggered or continuous operation and has a Camera Link interface, which simplifies setup and transmits full-frame images at up to 30 fps.

Measuring 55 × 55 × 80 mm and weighing 400 g, the camera takes C-mount lenses and consumes about 4 W of electrical power. The proprietary software driver is compatible with Windows XP, NT and 2000.
