A new head-support system helps laser users who must wear heavy filters for lengthy periods to protect their eyes against radiation. Laservision GmbH & Co. KG has developed the support to spread the weight over the whole of the top and back of the head, making it practical for operators to wear the proper eye protection.
The trend toward more powerful lasers with higher beam qualities places more stringent demands on the protection levels of laser safety eyewear. Unfortunately, this may result in goggles that are too uncomfortable for long-term use, with the danger that users are tempted to discard them. The system supports the eyewear with straps that pass across the top and around the back of the head, relieving the pressure on the nose and ears. It has two adjustment screws to make it fit quickly to any head, fitting the protective goggles firmly and comfortably for each individual.
Laservision already offers headbands that pass around the back of the head, a white cord with loops to fit to the spectacle arms for its Vision frame style of eyewear, and a 40-mm-wide black strap with an adjustable clip fastener for its Protector series goggles. The introduction of the dual-strap head support system helps wearers carry even greater weights with comfort.
