Coherent.jpgLaunched by Coherent Inc., the Talisker is a fiber-based mode-locked industrial laser that offers 18 W of average power at a pulse repetition rate of 200 kHz and a pulse width of <15 ps. It enables precision micromachining at high throughput rates and with a negligible heat-affected zone. It is available with 1064-, 532- or 355-nm output and can be used on metals, polymers, glass and semiconductors. It uses a fiber-based oscillator for industrial-grade stability and a bulk amplifier that boosts peak power to >10 MW. The laser head measures 17 × 39 × 77 cm. Applications include drilling high-quality holes in silicon and metals, direct-write of flexible circuits and displays, scribing of flat panel displays and solar cells, micromilling, wafer dicing and metal surface treatments.
