GLASS MANUFACTURING

Photonics Spectra
Aug 2008
SCHOTT North America Inc., Advanced OpticsRequest Info

Schott.jpgSchott Advanced Optics has developed a continuous melting manufacturing process for its LASF35 high-index-of-refraction glass. The procedure achieves higher internal transmission, especially inside the blue wavelength region, making the glass suitable for miniaturized lens systems, such as those used as ball lenses or microprisms in medical technology for endoscopes, microscopes and other microlenses. Internal transmission is 63% at 400 nm for a thickness of 10 mm. The glass is RoHS-compliant.
