Hamamatsu.jpgThe S10604 from Hamamatsu Corp. is a chip-on-board RoHS-compliant illuminance sensor for large-screen television brightness control and for use as a backlight dimmer in LCDs on cell phones. It measures 2.0 × 1.25 × 0.8 mm and is the same size as typical chip resistors, enabling pick-and-place operation during mass production of equipment. It reduces the effects from infrared LED light at 940 nm and features minimal color temperature error. Its spectral response is close to human eye sensitivity. Reverse voltage is from –0.5 to 12 V, photocurrent and forward current are both 5 mA, and operating temperature is from –30 to 80 °C.
