Newport_PS-Q-Pedestal-Post-Cube.jpgThe PS-Q Pedestal Post Cube is a new mounting device for the PS series pedestal and extension posts from Newport Corp. Researchers can build stable multidimensional optical rigs quickly from the cube-and-post system for laboratory experiments with optical components and lasers.

The new PS-Q cubes are composed entirely of stainless steel and measure 25.7 × 25.7 × 25.7 mm. They have precision mounting holes that orient the extension posts at right angles to each other, enabling the experimenter to build complex yet highly stable structures. By using the PS-QA thread adaptor, which fits into either of the two counterbores on the cube, the user can rotate each cube to the same orientation as those above and below, creating huge stacks of precisely aligned cubes. This is a feature unique to the PS-Q cubes. The thread adaptor is 20.6 mm long and has a diameter of 7.9 mm.

The cubes and thread adaptors are available in English and metric versions with 8-32 or M4 mounting holes. The PS series pedestal posts are 25.4 mm in diameter and come in heights of 12.7, 25.4, 50.8, 76.2 and 101.6 mm. There are compatible extension posts and spacers that enable the user to build supports of almost any height, and they have index marks for convenient height reference. The PS-F clamping fork secures the post to the optical table, and PS-45 mirror mount adaptors enable component positioning at 45° angles. The system also incorporates the compatible PS-SC sliding clamp.
