• optical distortion ≤0.1%
• working distance 120 mm
• magnification 0.5× to 6×
A range of in-line illumination telecentric lenses from Edmund Optics UK Ltd. targets machine vision gauging applications. These lenses combine fibre optic illumination with distance-invariant imaging, allowing users to inspect and to measure accurately a mix of products with different vertical sizes, without continual adjustment.
The lenses have a long working distance of 120 mm and produce optical distortion not exceeding 0.1%. By coupling a light source to the integrated lightguide ferrule, the lens operates to illuminate all parts of the target object directly from above. This produces uniform lighting across the full field of view. The small size of the lens, combined with its ability to blend illumination and imaging, is helpful where space is restricted at the production line inspection stage. Magnifications range from 6x, for lens stock number NT59-743, to 0.5× for NT59-740. The largest-magnification lens provides a field of view of 1.1 mm with a 1/2-in. sensor or 1.5 mm with a 2/3-in. sensor. The 0.5x lens also works with sensors up to 2/3 in. and yields a field of view of up to 17.6 mm. The eight lenses have magnifications of 6×, 5×, 4×, 3×, 2×, 1×, 0.75× and 0.5× and apertures of 57.4, 54.2, 45.4, 37, 27.3, 16.6, 13.3 and 9.3, respectively.
