Laser Scribing Systems
MKS/NewportRequest Info
Newport Corp. has introduced the SolaryX 420 and SolaryX 1660P laser scribing systems for thin-film photovoltaic process development applications.
The 420 system is designed for scribing the interconnect patterns of thin-film-on-glass solar panels. It is suitable for process optimization in pilot lines prior to full-scale thin film solar production and for research and development of higher-efficiency cell architectures.
Available in single and dual wavelength versions, it can accept 420 mm square glass substrates and can accommodate up to two lasers. It is configurable with either 1064-nm infrared lasers, 532-nm green lasers, or one of each. Laser edge isolation is also supported by the device.
The 1600P tool is suitable for full production photovoltaic manufacturing environments. Designed as a fast, flexible and accurate means to scribe thin film solar panels, it can support up to 1600 x 1100 mm glass panel sizes in its standard configuration. At its core is the company’s air-bearing motion control platform used to scribe straight lines. It also incorporates HIPPO and Explorer lasers from the company’s Spectra-Physics laser division.
