Princeton Optronics Inc. has introduced a high-power, thermally stable, backreflection-immune 808-nm semiconductor laser. The instrument comprises a 2-D planar vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser array mounted on a high-thermal-conductivity submount. It produces 70 W of output power in CW mode, with a spectral width of ~0.8 nm. It also can be operated in quasi-CW or short-pulsed mode and at temperatures of up to 80 °C. Thermal resistance is z0.16 °C.
