A high-performance fused silica optical diffuser from Rayotek Scientific Inc. has applications in laser calibration systems for the aesthetic and medical fields. Its cone angle range is 10° to 40° FWHM with tolerances better than ±0.5. It offers transmission of 80 to 92 percent, depending on cone angle, a transmission range of 170 to 3300 nm and low solarization. Thermally stable, it has a laser damage threshold value of up to 20 J/cm2, depending on cone angle, and operates at up to 1050 °C.
