The Cypher atomic force microscope (AFM) has been released by Asylum Research Corp. The small-sample AFM/SPM (scanning probe microscope) provides closed-loop atomic resolution using sensors in all three axes. Other features include SpotOn automated laser alignment via a mouse click and interchangeable light source modules that allow laser spot sizes down to 3 μm. An integrated enclosure provides acoustic and vibration isolation and good thermal control. Deflection noise is <20 pm.
