Thorlabs GmbH has released the LEDD3, a modulating LED source for frequency-domain fluorescence lifetime imaging and other microscopy applications that require modulated high-brightness LED sources. It comprises a nonswitching high-current driver and a high-brightness LED head with passive cooling for high thermal dissipation losses. The compact driver uses three operation modes. The first offers modulation frequencies from 10 to 100 MHz, the second provides modulation control via external trigger for frequencies up to 100 kHz, and the third enables setting of an adjustable constant current for visual inspection of samples.
