Newport Corp.’s Spectra-Physics Lasers Div. has expanded its ultrafast laser portfolio to include the 4W Spitfire Pro XP and the 3.5W Solstice ultrafast amplifiers. Suitable for use in scientific applications, the Spitfire regenerative amplifier outputs <35-fs pulses at 4-W average power at 1, 5 or 10 kHz. The Solstice one-box amplifier delivers 3.5-W average power at 1, 5 or 10 kHz. Both models offer good beam quality and pulse intensity, according to the company. Applications include time-resolved spectroscopy, terahertz generation, coherence control and high-harmonic generation.
