Compact, Integrated X-Ray Source
Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. has expanded its Monoblock series of x-ray sources with the introduction of the XRB100.
The high-voltage power supply, the filament power supply, the x-ray tube and the control electronics are integrated into a single, compact and easy-to-use package, eliminating the need for expensive, vulnerable external high-voltage cabling.
The compact and cost-effective source’s internal x-ray tube is powered at up to 100 kV at 100 W and features power factor-corrected universal input and an analog or RS-232 interface. The sealed unit can be mounted in any physical orientation. It has a stationary, tungsten anode x-ray tube and provides a fan-shaped x-ray beam geometry. It also can be customized to meet customer requirements for beam shape, focal spot size and other critical application-specific parameters.
Proprietary emission control circuitry regulates the current and provides stability. Nominal x-ray tube voltage is adjustable between 40 and 100 kV. The x-ray tube current is from 100 µA to 1 mA over the specified tube voltage range. Featuring a remote-control electronics assembly that minimizes tank footprint, the source can be integrated easily into a variety of OEM systems.
Applications include security, plating measurement, and food and fill level inspection and confirmation.
