TT_Electrinics.jpgA reflective object sensor in a miniature surface-mount package has been released by TT electronics Optek Technology. The OPB733TR infrared sensor uses a lensed infrared LED and phototransistor elements to collimate the light beam for an optimizing detection range from 10 to 25.4 mm. Its minimum phototransistor output current of 100 μA eliminates the need for external amplification of the signal, simplifying drive circuitry. Mounted alongside an n-p-n silicon phototransistor, which responds to light reflected by the object being sensed, it delivers typical peak emission wavelengths of 890 nm. It is suitable for noncontact detection in applications including paper edge detection in office machines; coin recognition; bill and card detection in vending machines and ATMs; and automatic, and industrial sorting and proximity sensing.
