Using maleimide chemistry, Li-Cor Biosciences has developed IRDye 800CW Maleimide, a functional derivative of its IRDye 800CW near-infrared dye. The new version can be used to label proteins, peptides and other biomolecules containing a reactive sulfhydryl group. It has applications in DNA sequencing, microsatellites, protein research and small-animal imaging.
