Dolan-Jenner Industries has unveiled the Fiber-Lite MI-150DG microscope illumination system. It includes a dual-gooseneck fiber optic and focusing lens, and it features two points of high-intensity illumination. The goosenecks can be positioned to optimize light where it is needed most. The 150-W quartz halogen illuminator is designed with a sleek plastic housing for a modern look and a cool temperature.

The lamp can deliver nearly 40,000 foot candles of high-intensity cold illumination, with minimal housing vibration or noise. An optional internal infrared and color filter holder is available. Because it is designed specifically for laboratory use, the system features a low-profile top handle and a side door for easy lamp replacement. It is available with an "A" style nosepiece.

The gooseneck fiber optic assemblies are available individually or can be purchased as a complete system with the 150-W MI-150DG light source, which offers lamp life of 200 h at full intensity and up to 10,000 h at lower intensities, a noise level less than 25 dB, and a weight of 9.25 lb. Custom fit fiber optic ringlights are also available for the following microscopes: Nikon SMZ Series, Olympus SZ Series, Leica S4/S6/S8APO, and the Unitron ZST and ZSB. The company also offers universal-fit ringlights for microscopes not listed above.

The gooseneck fiber optics are made using proprietary 0.55-numerical-aperture high-intensity glass fibers. They don’t require special adapters or mounting brackets. The complete Fiber-Lite MI-150DG system is UL-, CE- and C-UL-approved for global use, and it is backed with a three-year warranty.
