DPJ-25-OB Joulemeter Probes

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., May 26, 2009 – Spectrum Detector Inc. has expanded its line of “delta” pyroelectric joulemeter probes with the introduction of the model DPJ-25-OB, which features an optical black absorbing coating for flat spectral response from 0.25 to 15 µm, and model DPJ-25-DC, which includes a diffuse metallic absorbing coating that eliminates specular reflectance.

SpectrumDetector_Joulemeter.jpgThe DPJ-25-OB can be used for pulsed sources running at up to 400 pps; the DPJ-25-DC enables pulsed measurements at repetition rates in excess of 40,000 pps. Both probes are directly compatible with the company’s delta-DPM USB-based digital power module that includes LabView applications software.

The large-area 25-mm-diameter smart probes include a fast integrating circuit, a thermistor for active temperature compensation, a shielded cable terminated with a snap-on connector, and an erasable programmable read-only memory, where the calibration and wavelength correction factors are stored. They are designed for use with the company’s delta-APM analog power module to achieve the maximum usable pulse repetition rate of 40 kHz or with its delta-DPM USB digital module to create a single- or dual-channel plug-and-play digital energy meter. They can measure from 2 µm to 200 mJ, from 1 to 40 kHz, and from the deep-UV to the far-IR.

For both models, maximum energy density is 50 mJ/cm2, energy nonlinearity is <1%, calibration uncertainty is <2.5%, and maximum average power is 15 W.

A thermistor has much higher electrical resistance than metallic bolometers and hence requires much higher voltages to become useful.
