Berkeley Nucleonics Corp. has announced that its Model 6040 light-pulse generator with optical plug-ins from 650 to 1580 nm now includes optional polarization-maintaining fiber outputs. It provides up to 200 mW of controlled optical power, with pulse widths down to 5 ns and amplitudes adjustable in 2-mW steps. The Panda-style polarization-maintaining fiber ensures outputs with quantifiable and repeatable properties. The device meets FDA regulations for laser safety and laser marketing protocols. Aligning the fiber axis improves optical integrity, reduces loss of optical power and supports a single polarization state.
