AnaSpec.jpgAnaSpec Inc.’s FRET substrate for rat renin is designed for drug discovery research. Because an overactive renin-angiotensin system leads to hypertension, renin is an attractive target for the treatment of this disease, and this renin substrate may be used for screening renin inhibitors. The substrate includes the 5-FAM fluorophore and the quencher QXL 520. Upon cleavage into two separate fragments by rat renin, 5-FAM recovers its fluorescence and can be excited at 490 nm to emit at 520 nm.
